The San Juan Mountains are beautiful anytime of the year, but winter can create images that are just spectacular, thanks to the ever-changing weather during the stormy months.

The Million Dollar Highway runs between Ouray and Silverton, Colorado. All of the following shots can be seen from the highway.



Runoff from melting snow occurs at all times of the year. I love this shot because it combines snow, ice and water.

During the late 1800s, mines were scattered all over the San Juans. You can see the past mining activity all along the highway.
